THE WEST BERKSHIRE BREWERY

Award-winning Beers of Exceptional Character

David and Helen Maggs founded the West Berkshire Brewery in 1995 in the rural surroundings of Frilsham, near Newbury.

The founding principles of good, old-fashioned values of quality and service quickly created a strong demand for our beers locally and meant that we soon needed to increase our production capacity, so we established a new, larger brew house to meet this increased demand.

Customers loved our growing range of beers, licensees appreciated our exceptional service and inevitably our client base grew and grew.

Brewing is now carried out entirely in the picturesque West Berkshire village of Yattendon some eight miles northeast of the market town of Newbury.

At West Berkshire Brewery, we have always believed that the high quality of our product reflects not only the skill of our brewing but also the ingredients that we use in the process.

Our supply chain is controlled by using locally-sourced traditional ingredients as much possible, thus ensuring consistent quality of product and also reducing our carbon footprint.

Hops are sourced from the only hop garden in old Berkshire and much of the malted Maris Otter barley we use is grown at a farm in West Berkshire to where spent grains are returned to be used as animal feed, and so the cycle continues. Other specialist hops and malts are sourced from further afield around England.

What we sell

West Berkshire Brewery produces a superb range of traditional cask ales and bottled beers.

Since 1995 the quality of our beers has been recognised by the many awards we have received. Our Mild was awarded a Gold Medal at the prestigious SIBA National Competition and Full Circle won a Silver Medal at the highly regarded Great British Beer Festival together with numerous other Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in both local and national competitions.

You can now fully appreciate the quality of our beers at home: so for barbecues, parties and other events why not have a traditional ale on tap? These come in sizes of 9,18 and 36 pints and for larger events we can supply beer in 72 pint stainless steel firkins – just contact us to place your order.

We also stock a range of bottled beers, including three of our own best selling award winning beers, and often we have a seasonal beer available.
