Lakeland Coppice Products

The aim of Lakeland Coppice Products is to produce a variety of quality products from neglected coppice woodland . Coppicing is recognised as a benefit to bio-diversity with different species inhabiting the coppice at different points in the rotation.

Lakeland Coppice products was formed in 2000 by Ian Taylor and has gradually grown with the help of BHMAT apprentices Saul Blenkarn and James Mitchell . over this time we have amassed a range of equipment that enables us to takle most jobs when renovating coppice or thinning woodlands . Our aim is to improve every wood we work , to increase the flaura and fauna and to make the best use of every bit of wood that comes out of the woodland .

When the chance came to take redundancy I jumped at the chance to set up in coppicing . One of the main reasons was I actually wanted to see something I had made. After several courses I started renovating my first bit of woodland in Windermere . The learning curve has been very steep but the experience wonderful . I have made various woodland craft items in this time from humble besoms to small timber framing jobs. I have been the chairman of the Coppice Association North West and I am currently the newsletter editor.

The hope is to get neglected coppice back into rotation to benefit wildlife , give a return to the woodland owner and provide quality material for craft workers .
