Fordhall Farm

Owned by You.
Fordhall Farm, in Market Drayton, has been chemical free for over 65 years and rears its own outdoor beef, lamb and pork. Managed by tenant farmers, brother and sister, Charlotte and Ben Hollins, the farm offers a warm welcome to all.
We (Charlotte, 25 and Ben, 23) now run Fordhall Farm on the outskirts of Market Drayton. Ben manages the livestock on the farm and the more practical aspects of farm management as well as the Farm Shop, and Charlotte does the bookwork for the farm and correspondence for the Project with Community Development Officer, Hannah Saunders.
We currently tenant Fordhall Farm after it was secuerd in July 2006 by over 8000 people from across the country. We now have a 100 lease at Fordhall.
The Fordhall Community Land Initiative was created in October 2003 and incorporated in 2005 - a project that would work to secure Fordhall long term and subsequently open it to the public as an education and resource centre promoting sustainable/organic farming and healthy living - a subject area which our father, Arthur Hollins, spent his life researching at the Farm.
We believe Fordhall has an atmosphere and history which no one can take from it and a huge potential that is just waiting to be unlocked, and we are enjoying opening that door.
Both reaching the end of our time in education and wondering what we were going to do with the rest of our lives in 2004 regenerating Fordhall seemed like the perfect job (Charlotte - recently graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree reading Environmental Management with Maths, and Ben completed his HND in Agriculture at Harper Adams Agricultural College).
We are now selling our produce direct from the farm shop, have opened a nature trail and picnic area and are slowly building the resources available at Fordhall.
It's hard work, but extremely rewarding and exciting. We welcome anyone who wishes to join us on this ambitious project.
Our livestock are 100% Free Range and graze our species-rich chemical free pastures all year round. We do not use routine antibiotics or growth hormones. Neither do we house any stock through the winter, so there is no need for any additional concentrates. We farm as close to the natural lifestyle of the animal as possible, this means the animals mature slower than in conventional systems.
