At Bensons we simply press our fruit in a traditional way

Jeremy Benson comes from a farming family going back three generations. On a visit to Northumberland to his father's farm, 'Lanchester Fruit', Jeremy and his wife Alexia got their first taste of apple juice that his father had pressed using apples from his own orchard. This proved to be a turning point in the couple's life as they both realised how good the juice tasted. Keen to find out if other people felt the same way, they took a few barrels to the world famous WOMAD festival. It all sold out well before the last encore had been played.

Needing no more encouragement, they started selling the juice at farmers' markets and made the move to rural Gloucestershire where they started their family Business. In 2002 Jeremy and Alexia moved the business into the 400-year-old barns at Stones farm, that for the last 15 years have been National Trust owned, in the heart of the Cotswolds where all the juice is made in the traditional way. In July 2009, the business moved just a couple of miles down the road to larger premises at Sandy Hill Farm, Sherborne, embracing the increase in production.

It takes just 24 hours to turn fresh English apples into juice and 15 whole apples to fill a 75cl bottle using a simple process that has been around for centuries. In our opinion what makes a great juice is 'Simply pressed fruit'. We pride ourselves on not having any added sugars, waters or preservatives. Our juice is suitable for diabetics and is wonderful for children who require a sweet taste but without any artificial colours or additives.

Now available in eleven varieties the juice is sold at National Trust and English Heritage properties, Tate Modern, pubs, restaurants and delis, as well as farmers' markets all over the country. Bensons is a young, ambitious and lively family run business, supporting the rural economy and dedicated to producing the best English apple juice by pressing only the Best English apples.
