York Beer and Wine Shop

Wide range of fine wines fine selection of UK and continental cheeses.

We opened in 1985 as York Beer shop and were amongst the first to take beer seriously. We remain one of the best beer specialists in the country with a bonus of an outstanding and innovative range of fine wines, artisan cheeses and ciders. With the encourgement and support of several like-minded wine shippers, the expansion of our award winning range of wines prompted the adoption of our new name in early 2000.

When we opened in 1985 most of our bottled beer came from over seas, but in recent years there has been a huge increase in the availability of quality British bottled beers and these now take up more than half of the 250 or so beers in our range. The remainder are principally from Germany, Belgium and the rest of Europe. Cask conditioned beers are also available at very competitive prices. Timothy Taylor's Landlord has been ever present from the outset, other beers vary on a regular basis. We have featured in CAMRA'S 'Good Beer Guide' every year from 1991 to 2000, attracting appreciative customers from all over the country.
