The Whale Tail Café & Restaurant in Lancaster looks forward to making you welcome.

Our friendly atmosphere creates the perfect setting in which to enjoy the very best dishes created from fresh local produce, Fairtrade and organic ingredients. Our home-cooked meals, snacks and cakes can be enjoyed in the cosy comfort of the restaurant or in the pretty, secluded patio garden. Accompany your meal with a refreshing organic beer, wine, cider or juices and sit back to soak in the aromas.

Refurbished in early 2007 our food is always imaginative, delicious and vegetarian, with a large selection of vegan meals as well. There is also a daily snack menu. Full cooked breakfasts, mid-morning snacks, gorgeous cakes, speciality coffees and herb teas as well as light and hearty lunches and an enticing range of desserts.

Well-behaved children are made very welcome and we even have children's storybooks and a separate children's menu alongside our selection of newspapers. The Whale Tail now serves an excellent range of evening meals too, both vegetarian and vegan. The menu wraps itself round the seasons, so nature provides variety throughout the year.

Located on the first floor of an old cheese warehouse in the lovely city of Lancaster, we are certainly worth the find. Open every day for breakfast and lunch, with evening opening from Thursday to Saturday. Do please call for a reservation or simply call in, we will exceed all your expectations.

The Whale Tail prides itself on providing excellent quality food, locally produced, organic and fair-trade wherever possible. As the only exclusively vegetarian café and restaurant in town we enjoy inventing creative culinary masterpieces to astound even the most fervent of carnivores! We believe that food should be wholesome, tasty, fresh and colourful…and the same goes for the staff!!
