The Greenhouse Restaurant





Modern rustic cooking. Quality local seasonal organic produce and local game and fish in season are used in our daily menus.

We have a daily menu which reflects the produce we are able to buy on that week. The meat from the farm's may vary through the course of the week, the fish that is caught varies with the season and the weather, and as the seasons change different vegetables are available. This means we can produce a fresh, exciting menu all year round. All bread, pastries, ice-creams, sorbets & desserts are made on the premises.

Vegetarian dishes are usually available. We also can cater for vegans, diabetics and coeliacs (most dishes are wheat free anyway), or any other dietary needs. Let us know when you book. Children always welcome - small portions from the menu can be made for some dishes & all diets & tastes catered for.

At 'The greenhouse' we pride ourselves on our modern rustic cooking & simply presented food, interesting and innovative menus. All using the best quality local, free-range & organic produce available to us. Most important for us is that the produce we use is fresh and locally grown, produced or caught. Apart from the fact that buying locally will usually be the freshest that you can buy, you are also supporting the local farmers and growers. Our fish comes from Newlyn and some local fishermen who bring there catch direct to us. We don't use any farmed fish and prefer to use only locally caught fish. Our vegetables are mainly locally grown and organic, and our meat comes from local organic & free-range farms.

Organic farming is definitely better for the environment. It's true though that organic produce is not necessarily better for taste and quality, but it is generally as good as non-organic and is sometimes definitely better.

There's nothing new about organic farming it's how things were done before pesticides and antibiotics came into existence, it's natural farming in tune with nature rather than trying to fight or control it.

There are also probably individual benefits of an organic diet, no pesticide residues on salads or vegetables, no antibiotic or steroid residues in meats, and also, no GM produce.

The restaurant has now been open for 4 years now and is going from strength to strength. We believe that local, free-range & organic produce is not only better for the environment, but also for the individual.
