Scotswood Natural Community Garden

Beautiful community garden open to the public.

The Scotswood Natural Community Garden is a charity based in Scotswood in Newcastle upon Tyne, it aims to promote learning about nature, the environment and sustainable living. The Garden itself is a beautiful and wild 2 acre site where a range of activities for children and adults are run. The Garden's activities include, educational workshops for schools, volunteering opportunities for adults, a weekly youth club and regular community open days.

Nature Club is an exciting club for 8 - 13year olds with a passion for nature. We do fun outdoor activties, go on great trips and generally have a good time. We have already been very busy this year.January was Birds of Prey month and we learnt loads about our feathered friends through a range of outdoor activities at the garden, as well as a trip to the Kielder Birds of Prey Centre and a Red Kite safari through the Derwent Valley. February was all about clay: amongst other things the young people have been working with Marvin from Muddy Fingers Pottery to make some beautiful nature inspired seats for the garden, that they designed themselves. These were installed in March so why not come down and have a look. During March, Nature Club members worked with some professional film makers from the Haltwhistle film project to make a film. We held the world exclusive premiere in April, at our Spring Open Day.
