Butford Organics is an organic smallholding in Herefordshire specialising in cider, perry, pork and eggs.

We are licensed by the Soil Association as both organic producers and processors. We support all endeavours to promote fresh local food especially in Herefordshire.

Herefordshire is the home of the cider apple and perry pear and here at Butford Farm we intend to continue the tradition of quality cider and perry production.

We have won a number of awards for our cider and perry at our local Big Apple Cider and Perry Trials, The Three Counties Show and from CAMRA - a bronze medal for our dry draught perry at their 2004 National Competition.

We are on the Herefordshire Cider Route and you are welcome to come and sample our produce and see where and how the cider is made. We have a range of cider and perries to suit different tastes including naturally sparkling cider and perry made in the Normandy style.

We raise Oxford Sandy & Black pigs - a rare breed ideally suited to a free range lifestyle. Maturing slowly on a natural diet produces quality pork and sausages.

These friendly and entertaining pigs originated in Oxfordshire some 200 years ago. They have an attractive sandy colour with black spots - hence the name!

They are a key part of the rotation of the farm, ploughing and fertilising the land where we plant our arable crops.

Most of our pork is sold as half pigs and we usually have a selection of frozen joints and sausages in our Farm Shop.

Eggs - we have a flock of Black Rock hens which produce a regular supply of fresh organic eggs. They live in one of our orchards along with our geese.

Preserves - we make a range of preserves from our soft fruit - blackcurrant , raspberry and goosberry jam - as well as marmalade.

Soft and Top Fruit - in the summer and autumn we are able to offer freshly picked organic soft and top fruit.

Geese - we have a small flock of geese and provide these at Christmas for the discerning Xmas diner.

We moved to Herefordshire on 1999 and set about realising a lifetimes ambition to produce food in a natural, nutritious and environmnetally sustainable way. We are organically certified by the Soil Association under licence nos. G5368 and P9237 for our pork, eggs and fruit.
