What's more the worm castings (worm poo) and leachate (liquid fertiliser) that come from the wormery are the best composts that money can buy !! Great for your indoor and outdoor plants.

Our wormeries can be put next to the kitchen door, simply throw all your scraps into it, and watch your little friends munch away (well maybe don't watch - could get a trifle dull !!). Flat or mansion, town or country it doesn't matter where you live - you will have room for a wormery. Kids love them - fun and fascinating, and very educational too !

Each wormery comes complete with worm food, bedding, instructions and of course the worms.

What Is A Wormery ? A Wormery is a plastic or wooden container that contains composting worms. A compost worm differs from a normal garden worm in that it eats and lives on the decaying foods on the surface, whereas a garden worm burrows deep into the ground.

A Wormery is easy and fun to use, simply add your worms then your waste food, and after a few months your worms will have eaten it all and left behind a fantastic fertiliser called vermicompost, which is very high in nutrients.

A Wormery is a fantastic and fun way to get children interested in recycling and worm composting, as children love worms; they enjoy getting their hands dirty by messing around with soil and holding the slimy, wriggling creatures !

Why Should We Buy A Wormery ? According to a study by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap), households throw away about a third of the food they buy. About half of the 6.7 million tonnes of food thrown in the bin each year is edible and the rest comprises waste such as peelings and bones. Food accounts for 19% of domestic waste, cooked food is more likely to be thrown away than raw ingredients and fruit and vegetables are the most common uncooked foods to be discarded. All this waste then gets taken to landfill sites around the UK which are not only nearly full, but also account for a huge percentage of methane emissions (one of the greenhouse gases) that pollute our atmosphere.
