Ecolodge

A simpler way to relax.

The Eco-Lodge, opened in 2003, is located near Old Leake (just north of Boston, Lincolnshire). It has been built from wood grown and harvested in Lincolnshire. It was part funded by a European Union, Lincwoods project grant. The energy sources are wind and solar power and a large wood-burning range. It is open all year round. Drinking water is supplied from the mains; filtered rain water is supplied for washing.

The eco-lodge provides comfortable living accommodation including kitchen, open plan living and dining room, two bedrooms, a shower room and a veranda.

It is set in 8 acres of tranquil wood and meadowland. A large pond provides a home for mirror carp and other fish. Native tree species as well as conifers make up the wood and park.

Visitors can relax in these surroundings; picnics by the pond, or strolling in the woods. There is room for a relaxing game of bowls, kite flying, or a game of footie. Alternatively, lounge on the veranda, or in the lodge and get lost in a good book. This is your chance to get away from traffic and television and find the quieter side of life.

Situated 6 miles from the sea marshes in fenland, there is plenty of opportunity for bird watching, cycling and walking. The Lincolnshire Wolds provide beautiful walking country, interspersed with occasional country pubs.

Nearby towns such as Boston, Spilsby, Skegness and Spalding , all have their own secrets: markets, ports, rivers, seaside, museums, cinemas: everything for the athlete or the ambler.

Visitors can either make their own food on the wood burning range or gas cooker provided or eat out at a variety of tea shops, pubs or fish and chip shops in the area. More formal dining is available from local English, Indian, Thai, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese and Italian restaurants.
