Known for its organic veg and meat boxes, this is "the friendly high-street face of a tidy little empire in the West Country", according to Matthew. Strong relationships with producers, a focus on organic produce and a farm-to-plate ethos, with excellent control over the provenance of their produce, helps draw customers in at the company's first town-based outlet (it also runs several farm shops).

After a complete refurbishment to the premises, we have brought the best of real organic food to the High Street for those smaller daily and mid-week shopping trips, or perhaps a tasty snack during your lunch hour.

Riverford goes to Town has a classy image, selling a smaller, select range of products from Staverton, and run by the ever helpful Louise and Chris. RGTT is the first of hopefully a few more High Street shops in a similar vein in other local towns - and judging by its success so far, we seem to have got the formula just right. On Fridays and Saturdays the market brings in lots of people, music and the atmosphere that has earned Totnes a global reputation, we happen to think that Riverford is a little of what Totnes is all about.

Receiving daily deliveries from Staverton, if the shop doesn't have something you want, we can generally order it in for you. Carrying an excellent selection of meat, poultry, dairy, fruit, vegetables and delicatessen you can be always sure of finding something for supper! (and the perfect bottle of wine to go with it). Louise and the team know their products inside out, and have an excellent rapport with customers old and new.

The Watson family has farmed the 350 hectare Riverford Farm for nearly 50 years, more than twenty of which have been spent working to bring back the taste and quality of traditional foods through the farm shop with its butchery, bakery and kitchens, the organic vegetable box business and the organic dairy.

All are separate businesses but have much in common. As well as name and locality a shared belief in quality, unadulterated, fresh food makes the name Riverford stand for far more than just organic.

Out of five children, four, Louise (Farm), Ben (Shop), Oliver (Farm and Dairy) and Guy (Organic Vegetable Boxes) are actively involved in the farm or its associated businesses. The great patriarch, John Watson, though supposedly retired, is still actively involved in the farm and farm shop.
