As a worker co-operative we are positively different from the normal high street of chain shops.

Harvest Natural Foods began supplying the people of Bath with wholesome healthy food in 1971. We started selling ‘real’ natural foods before healthy diets became a national issue. Our co-operative has gone from strength to strength in a period that has seen many small food shops increasingly squeezed out by supermarkets. Harvest has always remained committed to providing healthy, earth friendly and cheap alternatives for your everyday shopping basket. This has meant that Bath’s discerning shoppers have been able to enjoy Harvest’s cornucopia of vegetarian food and ecological products for more than a generation.

In 1991 we merged with Nova Wholefoods in Bristol to become Essential Trading; a successful co-operative of 80 employed members over three sites. ~ two shops and one warehouse.. At our Bristol warehouse we have a large organically certified manufacturing facility from which we produce an extensive range of pre-packed goods on our Essential label. Our buyers have arranged for an Essential branded version of most organic store cupboard staples; these include our famous peanut butters, organic tinned goods such as tomatoes, pulses and mangoes, juices, jams, honeys, yeast extract, oils, bio-dynamic herb teas, pasta, flapjacks, herbs and jars of vegetables and soups.

An entirely non-GM zone, the Harvest/Essential range includes everything from organic fruit and vegetables, organic bread to Fair Trade chocolate, teas, coffees, organic wines, international specialities and essential store cupboard items.
