Cordon Bleu Cook & Food Consultant sourcing Local Produce.

Gilli (Davies) Cliff is a Cordon Bleu cook and has been involved in food, food journalism and broadcasting for the past 25 years. Consultant to the food industry and food judge, Gilli has recently retired as chairman of the Guild of Food Writers. Currently living in North Yorkshire Gilli runs cookery courses in her own home and continues to write and broadcast on subjects ranging from sourcing the best local produce to the aphrodisiac qualities of the food we eat.

About Me - Food Event Organiser - my passion for food spans thirty years from running a bistro in Oxford at the age of nineteen to writing and presenting a ten part TV series, Tastes of Wales in 1990. I have written 12 cookery books based on local food culture in Cyprus and Wales and more recently, organic produce. My new series of cookery books under the I’d Rather Be….. title is aimed at busy people who want to eat well but need to take a few short cuts.

Trainer for Catering & Children’s Cookery - running my own company for 5 years I set up children’s cookery classes, a training scheme to encourage restaurants to use local ingredients and a variety of food events.

Committee Work and Judging - I have contributed to committees for the FSA and Defra and judged competitions Yorkshire Regional food Group, True Taste in Wales, the Soil Association Awards and the Great Taste Awards. Consultant to the food industry, I sit on the board of Biocop, an organization that researches new technologies to screen multiple contaminants in foods as well as the Animal Register Working Group for Defra.

Guild of Food Writers - a member of the Guild of Food Writers for the past 20 years, I served 2 years as Chairman from Spring 2007. With over 360 members, the Guild is an energetic organization which supports and promotes food writers across Britain, running our own prestigious Food Writer Awards annually and hosting a number of ‘foodie’ events for members.

Cookery School - moving to Crayke in Yorkshire in 2001, I have set up a cookery school where I run monthly cookery classes for all ages and both sexes.
