Groundwork Black Country

Changing places, changing lives.
Groundwork Black Country is one of fifty Trusts that make up the national Groundwork Federation. Our purpose is to build sustainable communities in areas of need through joint environmental action to make the Black Country a better place to live and work.
Established in 1989 Groundwork Black Country has considerable experience of partnership working to meet the needs of local communities. We support and work alongside local strategic partnerships and councils, schools, residents associations and groups of special interest.
Groundwork Black Country will successfully deliver environmental activity to meet the needs of key partners and help to make the Black Country a better place to live and work.
Groundwork will be seen as a doing organisation with a strategic role, achieving high quality, innovative and competitive outcomes in a professional and financially sound manner.
Physical projects include improvements to the canal infrastructure, parks and open spaces, and schools. Key to this is the involvement of local people who develop the skills and knowledge needed to ensure that the work we undertake brings lasting benefits to the Black Country.
Groundwork gives volunteers access to a wide range of work experience placements that provide meaningful occupation, tangible benefits to the host organisation and potentially a first step into long-term employment.
Volunteers can be placed within Groundwork or with other community and voluntary organisations, local businesses and partner organisations. Training packages are specifically geared towards the needs and circumstances of volunteers.
