Riverford Farm Shop (Kitley)

Proudly providing real, local and organic food.

It’s been 10 years since Riverford at Kitley was opened. It is light, spacious and airy and has a very different feel to it than the original farm shop at Staverton.

There have been a few changes of late so, if you haven't paid a visit in a while you’ll find a new entrance into a much improved and attractive fresh produce display area (designed to help keep the fruit and vegetables cool and fresh) and there is now a much larger car park area making it easier to park (for a couple of hours if you’re anything like me when I shop). One thing that hasn’t changed however is the warm welcome you’ll get from , Jeanette (the deli manager), Dave (the butchery manager), and Tom - assisted by Tim - who manage the shop. The staff are always delighted to help with advice and suggestions.

And then there’s the Town Mill Café!

Which opened December 2008 - bringing their unique blend of bread based catering, with all that goes with it, to Riverford at Kitley. There are seating areas both inside for a rainy day, and a refurbished outside area for when the sun shines!

And Kitley Pick Your Own

Where you can find lots of seasonal produce being grown, unfortunately non-organic, but really fresh and tasty.

New and exclusive to the Kitley shop

New products for the summer from the deli – lovely fresh take away salads and homemade quiches. The new small selection of organic baby foods are proving to be very popular with customers and there are local, organic baby toiletries of outstanding quality. We now stock a contemporary range of basic kitchen equipment too.

Finally, a polite reminder about the recycling area; this is a welcome facility for customers, but can you please keep this area clear and tidy – rubbish is being left there, carriers bags, boxes and such like - please help us and keep it tidy.

The Watson family has farmed the 350 hectare Riverford Farm for nearly 50 years, more than twenty of which have been spent working to bring back the taste and quality of traditional foods through the farm shop with its butchery, bakery and kitchens, the organic vegetable box business and the organic dairy.

All are separate businesses but have much in common. As well as name and locality a shared belief in quality, unadulterated, fresh food makes the name Riverford stand for far more than just organic.

Out of five children, four, Louise (Farm), Ben (Shop), Oliver (Farm and Dairy) and Guy (Organic Vegetable Boxes) are actively involved in the farm or its associated businesses. The great patriarch, John Watson, though supposedly retired, is still actively involved in the farm and farm shop.
