Welcome to Clun Valley Organics, a mixed, family run organic hill farm (known as Brynmawr) located in the beautiful South Shropshire Hills, producing home grown quality traditional beef and lamb as well as fresh organic vegetables including potatoes, swedes leeks and carrots.

Brynmawr Farm is a family run organic holding fully certified by the Soil Association, priding itself on providing fresh, high quality local produce. Amongst many benefits, the organic system means that there is no need for pesticides, inorganic fertilisers and high stocking rates, all of which benefit local wildlife and result in healthier food and environment for all. The farm is situated in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is in a Natural England Higher Level Stewardship scheme, a ten-year agreement providing funding to farmers and other land managers who deliver significant environmental benefits on their land. Such environmental management at Brynmawr far includes:

Hedgerow restoration and less frequent trimming.

Erection of bird boxes for a range of species including tree sparrows.

Creation of wetland scrapes fro birds such as lapwing.

Late cutting of hay meadows to allow plants to flower and set seed.

Reduced stocking rates of land in the spring to allow ground nesting birds to nest successfully.

Educational access providing guided tours to both schools and other interest groups.

Our animals, including traditional breed Hereford and Highland cattle and Hebridean sheep, are matured naturally/slowly on the farm; they are ideally suited for extensively grazing the diversity of upland habitats, including the Rhos Fiddle Nature Reserve, a beautiful expanse of upland moorland, which forms part of the farm. The use of these traditional breeds not only ensures that the farm’s important wildlife habitats are maintained and enhanced but also benefit from the variety of plants such as heather and bilberry which give the meat its distinctive flavour.
